Fiddle Frenzy House Concert ~
Betty Vornbrock, with a little help from her friends!

This will be a unique presentation of fiddling by a woman who enjoys several fiddling traditions, and has traveled afar to study them.
Her sets will primarily be tunes, and perhaps a song or two, from the Appalachian Mountain states, but sprinkled with odd, haunting, or beautiful selections from the Shetland Islands
and Ireland. These traditions share historical roots and relationships, and make for a very interesting mix of music. Betty's passion for exploring the world of the fiddle is infectious, so beware!

Please call 412-835-1140 or email Bill for directions or to reserve a seat.

For those of you who’ve never experienced one of Betty’s hands-on workshops, I can attest that she is an excellent teacher. She breaks tunes down by phrase and makes sure you get it down before going on. She picks a variety of tunes that give you a wide range of fiddling techniques and styles to add to your old-time fiddling repertoire.

This is going to be a weekend steeped in the music of southern Virginia and West Virginia: Saturday evening, Calliope House is presenting Music from the Crooked Road, showcasing some of the best traditional musicians from southern Virginia (Betty’s neck of the woods!). This show includes guitar master Wayne Henderson, fiddle champion Kirk Sutphin, and balladeer, Elizabeth LaPrelle, and many more.
Hope you can join us—and help spread great old-time music in Western Pennsylvania!
